The Serious Consequences of a Methamphetamine Charge
The Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation (MBI) recently completed a large drug bust that infiltrated a significant methamphetamine trafficking ring throughout central Florida. As reported in the Orlando Sentinel, the bust resulted from months of surveillance and investigations that began after the release of a convicted methamphetamine trafficker. Upon receiving a tip, investigators reportedly began following him with the intention of identifying his drug source. According to the article, MBI agents watched the suspect buy several pounds of pure methamphetamine. He then allegedly delivered specific quantities throughout several counties in the region. Law enforcement agents report that the drugs had a total street value of about $20,000 per pound. After the initial distribution, the recipients reportedly divided the methamphetamine into smaller quantities and sold it on the streets.
At least 10 people have been arrested in relation to the investigation, according to the newspaper article. Some of the pending charges include trafficking, racketeering and conspiracy to traffic. MBI agents reportedly expect at least six more arrests.

The highest possible penalty for a methamphetamine possession conviction is five years imprisonment and/or a $5,000 fine. In addition, the state revokes the driving privileges of a convicted party for a period of one year.
